Handbrake Top sensor/switch
My top sometimes will not operate. I have traced it to the handbrake, which must be applied to it's limits to allow the top to operate. Before I attempt repairs, I wanted some advise. Any tips on handbrake cover disassembly and whether it's just a micro switch in need of adjustment would be greatly appreciated.

It isn't too difficult, but it does require a little time.
You need to remove the center console. It is held in by torx screws. 8 - 10 of them. After you pop off all of the trim pieces, you should be able to find them all with little difficulty. Once you have the console off, you will see the brake switch - it is white plastic with a black plunger. Remove the screw that secures it and replace the switch. AFJ |
Thanks AF,
One other unrelated question, if I pull my battery this winter, other than the radio code, will the car computer be adversely effected? |
It will lose its adaptation values stored in the DME. It will run a little "off" for the first 30 minutes or so.
