OEM brake pad question
Quick question on boxster S brakes. I know our brakes are made by Brembo(calipers and rotors), but what brake pads come with the big red brakes on the box S?

The fronts are made by Galfer and the rear by Textar. If you look at the metal backing plate you will see these names and their part numbers stamped on the plate. It even says so in my old shop manual. Although there is also the Brembo name and the Porsche logo on the back as well.
This is for the base Boxster. I do not have a set of S pads to look at but the shop manual does not distinguish between the base and S. |

Thanks Tool Pants. The online catalog here says Zimmerman was the OE rotor supplier for the Boxster/996, but I thought Brembo was. Does Brembo only do calipers?

I have always been told Zimmermann is the supplier of rotors and the only difference is that Zimmermann does not paint the hats, but you can do that yourself if desired. For base 986 owners that like the holes you can get them from Zimmermann, but not Porsche.
I have no clue if Brembo only makes calipers, but you can search on their site. Here are pads of a base 986, made by Textar and Galfer. I think when Brembo and Porsche put their name or logo on them the price goes up.

Textar is part of the Pagid group. AFAIK, the suspension and brakes are assembled as units in Italy and then shipped to Germany or Finland for installation.

Guys just use a normal high temp paint in a spray can that you can find anywhere. Never understood by gray is used because I would have used black. There was a guy on ebay selling Zimmermann rotors painted in different colors for painting challenged people.
