Radio Code
 

Where can I find my radio code? I looked through all my car's documentation and could not find it.

I think Tool Pants has a way, but otherwise you will probably (and we have to) take the car to the dealer.....

I played this game, it sucks to have idiots as former owners of Boxsters. I only have one very expensive key as well. Anyhow, special radio release keys can be ordered, Performance Products has them, then the radio can be removed. By recording all the numbers on the radio chassis you can place a phone call to any dealer and get the codes. This can be handy if you happen to have a dealer who is a complete asshat, like the one in my city.

Porsche dealers have been told not to give codes out on the phone.

If you have a 2003 then there is no user radio code and therefore no code card.

Codes were used from 1997-2002 on the 210 and 220 radios and PCM.

That makes sense, mine wouldn't give out the codes with title and registration proof, in person. The dealer in my area is always thousands higher for comparable vehicles. Once this same dealer caused a Exxon Valdez oil leak in my 944 changing the belts, didn't even leak test the car and never offered any concession in the resolution of the problem. I paid both bills and never said anything about it. After that, I found a good wrench and never went there again. My dad had a car dealership for forty years, I know how they are supposed to be run and this place isn't it...

Lastly, I have the premium sound package and frankly I'm not seeing the big rush to steal it, it's mediocre at best.

No kidding. Thx TP. So I should not have to worry about that if I replace/disconnect the battery.

When you hook up the battery the CDR 23 radio will just turn on.

To be 100% technically correct there is a code in the radio and a matching code in the instrument cluster, but you cannot access them without a PST2/PIWIS and there is no reason to access them unless a radio or cluster is being replaced. I have been told this code is based on the last digits of the VIN. The older 210 and 220 radios had a code based on the radio serial number.
