Changing brakes on the Boxster
I just ordered front and rear pads for the 2000 Boxster. I have never had the wheels off of this car yet. I have changed the pads on my 77 911 and other cars several times.
My question , is there anything special that I should know about when changing these pads? Any concerns about the ABS sensor? Thanks Rick

No worries, Boxster brakes are easy - easier than a 77 911 in fact...

Rick, just curious.....how many miles are on your Boxster? How did you know it was time for new brakes - are they down to the "squeak" indicators and it's making noise? Visual inspection? Or just going by the mileage?
thanks!

Just a heads up...I volunteer time in the Chicago Region PCA doing tech for track events. If your pads are more than half worn, replace with new. How do you tell? Get a flashlight and look. If the pad is less than about a 1/4 to 3/8ths, replace. Even on the street, you don't want your calipers pushing that far out. The pad is a heat insulator and the thinner it gets, the grerater the heat the caliper is exposed to. Remember, pads are cheap.

I'm not sure how many miles she has on the boxster. I knew that they needed changing because a light on the dash came on and indicated "Brakes Worn" . Rick
