Steering Wheel
Is there anything I need to know in particular to change out the airbag wheel for a newer one?
I have a Boxster Red four-spoke with CF that's kinda cracked and looks bad, and I need an alignment too, so I figured I'd get it all done at the same time. I just want to put in a newer black 3 spoke one, non-tip, assuming I can find one. Possible? Easy? Hard? What to look out for?

This should not be different from a 996, but removal is pretty simple. MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. Pull the bag center area off gently; it will pop off. Disconnect all wires. You'll need a fairly large socket to remove the hub nut (I don't recall how large; 24-27mm perhaps). I always make a small paint mark to re-align the wheel, but this probably won't work in your case. Pull, tug or whatever force is needed to remove wheel. Replacement is opposite of removal. You will need to visit a dealer or independent shop to reset airbag warning light.
Somebody jump in if I missed a step. |
