Which upgrades work?

So now I have a second P-car money pit, a 2002 S which I am sure will need some upgrades, any suggestions on what actually works? Which brand of springs is better, do the stut bars actually help, anything help you can provide is appreciated.

Thom

Having purchased an '02 S last spring with only 8200 miles, I can recommend the following upgrades. First, replace the stock airbox with the EVO High Flow Intake. Makes a wee bit more power, but the sound is incredible. Second, install a short shift kit; the factory throw is just too long (I put in a B&M and love it). Third, I had H&R sport springs installed. Gives the car a much more agressive stance and improves road feel due to thier progressive nature. The list could go on...I also replaced the stock muffler with a sport version (personal taste) and completely "de-ambered" the car. Good luck and enjoy your car.

Do you have to pull the engine to do this?

No...all you do is remove the stock airbox (which can be a bit of a pain) and install the new high flow kit. I wasn't interested in keeping the stock airbox, so I took it out in pieces. Took about an hour and a half, if I recall. The induction howl is tremendous compared to the stock box. Worth every penny.

I don't own a Boxster (yet), I'm assuming access is from below and not from removing panels in the rear trunk, right?

Nope access is from above. The top of the engine is accessible if you put the top in the "service postion" which means looks like a clamshell half open. It takes about 5-10min to undo some turn locks and a few other things.

Strickly an uneducated opinion, but I can't see how strut bars are worth a damn on the Boxster? ..certainly not on the rears. (..but they do sell them!)
