shift swift?
.....so i'm killing some time checking out my owners manual. i happen upon the diagrams in the back of the book.
where can i get more info on the engine diagrams? (page 213 in my manual) specifically, torque vs engine power. i also looked at the transmission diagrams and thought, the way it's displayed, i could start & end in 3rd gear for the life of the car and be fine?!?! i know i'd apply flame to my clutch but it's drawn like i could do it. or i might be able to get away with shifting 1-2-5 or 1-2-4. keep in mind i'm not going krazy. just curious as to what others do. i'm sequentially shifting thru my gears but still i'm wondering. i also did a search thru pelican but maybe i'm not searching properly. thanks for any/all input! |
You might try to get your hands on a tech intro booklet published by Porsche.
I skip gears sometimes. |
Personally, I will often accelerate onto the freeway and then skip from 4th to 6th, sometimes from 3rd to 6th. I'm easily at 65 in 4th with lightly spirited acceleration. And 65 in 3rd is just starting to growl. If the traffic is at 65, there is no further need for the other gears or more acceleration. That said, it is quite a disconnect to go from accelerating in 3rd to 65 and then sedately slipping into 6th.
