Boxster bolt on turbo kit
Hey guys, I am wondering what would be the interest in a bolt on turbo kit for the 2.5. This would be in the $5k price range, complete with fueling and everything needed to do it yourself. It would be a straight bolt on, low boost system, meaning nothing internal would be touched, making in the vicinity of 300bhp or so.
This would be an alternative to the supercharger kits out there, with the possibility of upgrading. These will be available by midsummer, depending on the demand. Let me know what you think! Thanks Mike

Hi, the first kit would be for the 2.5/2.7 engines, but depending on the demand, I would also work on a 3.2 kit.

Hi Frank, this would be around $5k usd, and would be liquid/air intercooled.
There doesn't seem to be as much interest as I had anticipated. I will be building a one off kit it seems! Thanks! Mike

if you made it to fit the current motor; 2.7/3.2 you might get a better response...

My thoughts were that now the older boxster is more affordable and everywhere, hence a better market for such mods. I did plan on making systems for all boxtser engines in the long run...

HI mike thanks for the response, i own a machine shop in Montreal and i was thinking that maybe we can help one another with a project like building a Turbo Kit. I was looking at the Turbowerxs Turbo but i'm not to confident i can do the install myself and who knows what kind of Twin Turbo they are selling. Actually they are giving a $1000.00 rebate for a limited time at this moment.
Just a thought ![]()

I agree with Mike on the rising popularity of the affordable 2.5. I have one myself (2.5l) and found this thread on Google researching for turbo kits. There is nothing out there really. I love the car, it handles well, I just hoped for better power.
A turbo kit for $5k, with an output near 300hp would be a dream come true to most. I'm interested for sure! Maybe you should seek the interest of folks on other forums like 986forums, etc... Anyway.... Good luck on the project and keep us posted! I would love to have one for that price! Last edited by javi-tsi; 02-28-2007 at 07:55 AM.. |
