Unhappy Boxster Won't Start

After setting for 2 months Boxster won't start. Lights come on but all you get when you try to start is a sound in the dash somewhere, a clicking sound. Installed new battery, same lights come on, wipers work well, all you get is a sound in the dash, sounds like relay closing. Feels like a nearly dead battery. Any help with this one is appreciated.

Your battery may have enough charge to run the lights, but not enough to turn the starter. Suspect the battery first.

Jump it, and it will most likely start.

EDIT: Doh! I didn't realize you just put a new battery in... Regardless, I would STILL try to jump-start it. There have been many cases where a replacement battery is also dead.

Same thing just happened to my 2003 Boxster S. I suspected a weak battery after a couple sluggish starts over the past two or three days. Drove for an hour yesterday and the car didn't die so I guess that eliminates the possiblity of a bad altenator. Tested the battery 12.25 V after the drive. Today went to get gas car started no problem but would not restart at the gas station (clicking sound all other power items worked except my radio). Got a boost got home and tried to restart when I got home...no go, and the clicking sound as you described with fluttering dash lights. Currently charging the battery will retest in several hours.

I realize it has only been a few days since your problem but have you found the root cause?
For reference I did find this on PCA Tech Q&A forum

I charged my battery yesterday and tried to restart. No luck the clicking sound again. The windows pulled down and fluttering lights. I can boost my car with my charger pack..fires right up on the first stroke. After boosting the car last night I tried to restart about 4 hours later without the booster and it restarted twice but this morning the car just gave me the clicking sound (almost like there is something draining the battery). I'm going to try the new battery today if I can find what I'm looking for (slim pickings for batteries in Northern Alberta).

Put in a new battery fired up the car and away it went. Think the problem is solved. Will carry the battery booster for a little while just in case.
