Central Locking Issue
Hello all. I have a 2003 Boxster that I use as a semi-daily driver. It gets driven to and from work Monday through Friday every other week. It will sit in a garage during the off weeks. Normally the key remote function shuts down and will work normally again once I start the car. I've owned the car since March of this year and have had no problems with the key remote or central locking....until now. The key remote, for both keys, has stopped functioning. Doors and trunk lids do not open, lock or unlock. The LED on the keys flash, the batteries in the keys are fresh but nothing happens. Also when I unlock the car, no matter what games I play with all the "turn the key to the lock position two times or three times" or whatever the manual tells me to do the alarm does not disarm and I have to make sure to start the car within ten seconds of opening the door or the horn goes off.
My next move is to disconnect and re-connect the battery before taking the car to a dealership to fix this problem. Does anyone out there have any experience with the same problem or have any ideas what I might be able to do to restore proper function to the remote locking system? Thanks for your help. |
Opened and closed all lids and doors. Central locking works again.
