Might be buying 2003 boxster

Hi, iam a 911 guy and was thinking and seroiusly of buying a nice 2003 1 owner boxster for sale.I do most of the maintance on my 911 expcet the heavy duty stuff. I ask if i could c the engine on the boxster while i was looking at it and the sales guy said there is no engine lid. Wow i thought. It had 30k on it when they brought it over to canada from cali. and the owner of the car lot put on 20k since then. Everything checks ok in Carfax and been owned for 4years from same owner since new.Is the boxster going to be hard to do light servce work on it myself oil/filter/spark plug timing ect.? How do u get to the sparkplugs and oil filter etc.?The 911 was a bit of pain with the engine lid. Going from under the boxster sounds even harder. thxs for replies if any. Long live the 911.Oh yea on the tach. to read the Kilometer's on the car it was in miles. Tried pushing the button to set it to Kilometer's but nothing seems switch it.Is specail way? something not electlical working?

I don't do my own service, but the pervious owner was wrong about the engine lid. You need to partially open the top, then tilt it forward. The engine deck lid can be removed in this position.

Boxsters are fairly easy to work on. Oil changes are a snap (done from beneath the car). Spark plugs, also done from below with the wheels off, are inconvenient but do-able yourself. Timing? You haven;t had a new car in a while, eh? Timing on modern cars is via computer maps.

Top or motor accessed in 15 min. Instructions in owners manual.
