Boxster S intake noise
I recently bought a 01 Boxster S w/ 66,000 miles
Also just had the exhaust headers welded to repair cracks (I hear this is common) I get a 'sucking' noise through the rear air intake when I hit the gas quick in nuetral . I thought the noise was part of the leaks in the headers but it's still there. Anybody out ther have any advice? |

It's called air induction...the noise we want to hear when we hit the trottle. The intake for the engine is located in the left rear vent. Many of us have modified our cars with aftermarket hi-flow induction units so we can hear even more of that glorious noise; some have simply removed the "snorkel" to gain a bit more than stock. If you do a search, you will find many write-ups on the snorkel and how to de-snorkel, if you wish. Sounds more like you prefer your car silent, though.

That is indeed a truly glorious noise !!!! which is promptly followed by some very swift acceleration, which is followed by a rapid increase in my heartbeat.
These truly are wonderful machines.
