Not paid $150 by a member
So a Pelican member wanted to buy my car and asked me to get a PPI. He said he would pay for it. Well, long story short, he backed out of the deal at the 11th hour and stiffed me the PPI money. I have tried to contact him via email and Pelican, but no response.
So, what does the community think is the best way to get this resolved? At this point, I think the $150 is lost, the chances of that being paid are slim. I would welcome an explanation and payment but having no more responses from this member, I think that is gone. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for listening. I feel frustrated, Dean |

You could name him and post his e-mail stating that he would pay for the PPI. Hopefully, this would embarrass him into being honest. Otherwise, you could just contact Pelicans in his hometown and we can pillage and burn.....or have an intimate discussion.....

That sucks...I say name him. Call him out. A gentleman would have honoured his commitment, even a verbal one or "virtual" handshake.

For future reference if someone wants a PPI, have them call the shop and arrange for the appointment and pay for it. All you have to do is drop the car off.
Look at it this way you already have a PPI so it should help you sell it easier.

Well, at least you have a PPI in hand to help with a sale to the next prospect.
Now, the question is, did the PPI show something that would make a normal person back out? I think if I contacted a seller and the car was said to be, let's say, "perfect" and something obvious popped up, then I'd feel somewhat cheated. Not saying that happened here, just pointing out that there are two sides to any story. Did he said anything at the time he backed out? Any reason? If he just flat nailed you and won't reply, it doesn't' sound good. |

Thanks to everyone for their opinions.
Nothing out of the ordinary in the PPI. I even fisxd a few of the items that came out of it. Buyer pretty much backed out of the deal and has never been heard from again. I have been selling Porsche parts as a hobby for about 15 years both here and EBay. And in all that time I have only had 3 people stiff me. That's not bad, all things considered. I generally believe most people on this board are honest and do what they say they are going to do. There will always be some losers but ... Dean |
