FS: Doug&Julie's 2001 Boxster with Cayman style top

I purchased this 2001 Lapis Blue boxster from Doug & Julie last year. However, I recently injured my back and getting in and out of the car is not working anymore. So I regrettably have decided to sell the Boxster. Car is located in Tampa FL.

This is a one of a kind Porsche. Beautiful Lapis Blue 2001 Porsche Boxster convertible with a removable hard top that replicates the look of a Porsche Cayman for the fraction of what a Cayman costs. Plus the top is removable so you get two cars in one. It takes only 20 minutes to switch from Cayman style coupe to Boxster style roadster.
The top is made by zeintech in South Africa and is one of only a few in the United States. (http://www.zeintec-usa.com/)

Other updates include a sporty rear spoiler custom made by zeintech to enhance the beauty of the car with or without the top. It also has painted side vents and rear bumperettes. (This feature is normally found in 2003 & later Boxsters). 18" Carerra S wheels with nice wide Bridgestone Pole Positions make this car stand out above other every day boxsters and provide instant response and fantastic handling.

Options include: Heated seats, Litronic Headlights, Headlight washers, Cruise Control, Traction Control and more.

This car has been my daily driver for over a year with no problems. Since it gets a daily workout, it could use a good detail and the floor mats are worn and need to be replaced. There are some small scratches and chips, but all have been touched up.

The car has just under 60K miles on it, however the engine was replaced under warranty by Porsche at 33K miles due to a leaking seal on the old engine. The clutch was also replaced at this time and new front pads and rotors where installed at about the same time. Other updates include clear rear taillights. Custom radar detector indicator that allows you to run a detector completely hidden from view, and many other upgrades. There is really just too much to list. The history of this car is well documented through the previous owner and myself. It was only involved in one minor accident (backed into by an SUV at Starbucks). The repair was made with new Porsche parts and is well documented. Only the bumper cover and factory spoiler were damaged.

Please email me with any questions or to set up a showing of this unique car. pat.nospam@mac.com

Thanks,
Pat

Aw man...on eBay! Guys (and gals) this is a really great car. I would happily buy it back if we had the funds!

Pat did you list it on the Cars For Sale board here? Might be more lookers there..

I'm going to have a hard time saying "no" to this one.

Three days left to decide.

Too bad it's so far away from me. Hmmmmm...........

It'll make the trip. Where are you in the NW? Perhaps I could drive it out for you?

Ha,
I spoke with a gentleman a few nights ago in the pacific NW about it. I think the car really wants to end up up there so that Doug can run across it on occasion when he moves out that way.

You've discovered my plan to move all my Porsches out West. I've already got one in Seattle, one in (I think) NorCal and one in SoCal (being backdated by TRE). Eventually, I'm going to buy them all back.

..after I win the lottery.

It's a really nice looking car, but right now there are 169 Boxsters for sale on ebay. I think with that asking price it is going to be a no sale. You can get a nice "S" for less money. Not to insult the car, but it may be tough to sell at that price.

No and that is what makes it an attractive car. Just not sure you can get out of the car what is put into it.

FWIW I am WELL under what I have into it at that price. The top alone was +5K new, and I did put 30K enjoyable miles on the car. Really the marketing is for someone who wants a Cayman but just can't afford it yet. It looks almost the same for way less cost even if that does make it a really expensive Boxster. You see I'm using the Porsche marketing of "of course people want to pay more for a hardtop than a convertible"

If I don't sell it as a combo I've got several pretty solid offers on the top and will re-list the car separate. But at this point there are 40 people watching it with no reserve so I'm hoping the bidding war start on Sunday

(I'm guessing at least 25 of those watching are probably Pelicans just waiting to see what happens... )

As someone who has been in and out of the market for Boxsters (and is "always looking") I can tell you that most of those "cheap" Boxsters are just that...cheap. This one is not. I think with all of the options (especially that top) this is a perfectly reasonable offer.

Besides, you can always come down in price, but you can (almost) never go up!

Nice shots of the University of Tampa in your for sale ad. Spent many many evenings there. Beautiful campus. Oh, good luck with the sale.
