SHOPPING - when did MY 2006 boxsters hit the street?
i am looking at a 2006 boxster really low KM (in canada) and i want to clarify the in service date.
the owner says that he's had it for 3 summers, so that would mean 2008, 2007, and 2006, fits with a 2006 my car, the dealer who sold it say its' in service date was july 2005 and the warranty expires july 2009, i never looked at the manufacturers date in the drivers door post last weekend when i saw the car to confirm either story, i always thought the the europeans had their factory switch over in august or there abouts, which makes the dealers comment BS. when (date month and yr) did the make the switch to 2006 my the VIN confirms a 2006 my.

The "in service" date is the time it was delivered.
The production date is on all USA spec VIN stickers. It will also be on the service book.....well, it SHOULD, but don't bank on it even though the supplying dealer must ( but doesn't always) stamp and sign the book, stating the delivery details and when the PDI was done. I've seen plenty of Porsches and Audis with unsigned and unstamped service books.....

2006s first became available in 2005. x2 with Britwrench about the "inservice" dates.
