Trouble with auto window down using door handles.
Hey all,
I just bought a 2002 Boxter in December. I'm having an issue with the window down feature when the doors are opened. All work fine except when I open the drivers door from the outside. The window goes down but goes back up when I release the door handle while the door is still open. I have found that if I press down on the part that rocks in the door latch it will go down and stay down. I can't find any description of how this works exactly. Any ideas? Jeff |
anyone, anyone....Bueller:)

C'mon guys, you can't tell me I'm the only who's ever had this problem:confused: I have also found out another interesting fact. I discovered that if I pull the outside drivers side door handle only far enough for the door to unlatch the window will stay in the 5mm down position. If on the other hand I pull the handle any further than that point, the window will immediately go back all the way to the top as soon as I let go of the drivers side handle. If I realize this it's okay but if I don't notice the glass then hits the plastic trim that goes over the top of the window.
Does anyone know how these work? I really don't want to do exploratory surgery. I'd really rather know what exactly I'm going after first. Jeff |

There are three microswitches inside each door that act on the window drop-down feature: One behind the outer door handle, one behing the inner door handle, and one inside the lock assembly. From the symptoms that you describe, the one inside the lock assembly is either defective or has become disconnected. You are going to have to take off the door panel to replace the whole assembly, as Porsche does not sell that microswitch by itself. Regards, Maurice. |
