LN's Low temp T-stat
I've been contemplating the purchase of LN engineering's low temp t-stat. The concept makes sense to me, so I'm interested to see if anyone here has installed the unit. If so, how was the installation, and how much of an effect did it have on your operating temp?

The new T-stat should open at a lower temp, thereby starting to cool the engine sooner. In theory, a cooler engine should last longer, as well as produce a little more power.

Cool is good cold is not... when running high revs.
There is definitely a differences and there is a sweet spot. The T-stat opens between 175/180 and when ran hard temps get to 200/210. I would say the sweet spot is between 175 and 210. |
I have it on my short list to install this spring in my '02 S. According to posts by Charles from LN, the t'stat should bring the overall operating temp down around 20-25* from standard. Though the gauge reads around 180*, the coolant is really much hotter, in the low 200's.
I'm up for anything that will give my engine some longevity. |

From what I've read, the swap is quite easy. Since a good amount of coolant will run out, it's also the likely time to renew the content, which doesn't sound all that difficult either. You just need to burp the system for a few days to make certain all the air is removed (lots of written procedures on how to do this).
