Smoking on startup
What do make of a Boxster that smokes on startup. This only happens when I move the car a short distance (from garage to street) then when I start it up again it has a puff of blue smoke. If I drive the car a long distance (>10 miles) I have never noticed this smoke. BTW... at has 111K on it and it's a '99 (2.5L).

I would say that your oil smoke after short trips or running time is normal. See it all the time.
If the car smokes consistently and doesn't stop, like enough to hide your car in a smoke cloud, then yes, it is likely your oil separator.
