Swepco 201 in Boxster tranny?
Is it OK to use Swepco 201 oil in the manual transmission of a '99 Boxster?
![]() The stealership wants $50 per quart for the stuff they recommend! ![]() Thanks for your input, Joel |

Joel. I have some for what they refer to as the differential for the tiptronic. I would check with either Swepco or maybe Zims automotive for best application. Gears are pretty much gears but bushings and seals can react to certain kinds of fluids. Hey there was no sub for the tip, expensive and definitely not ATF as we know it.

201 is a non-synthetic oil that the older (pre-87) cars use and it works well. Cars later that was almost always a synthetic oil and the Swepco you might look at is 210 (easy to mix up with 201). You might give John Walkers Workshop or Chris's German Auto a call and get an answer. Once a car is out of warranty, there is little need for using a dealer. They take every opportunity to sack and pillage your wallet!
