Car locked , Key and remote fail to open doors !!!

I have a Boxster 1997. My remote control hasn't worked for ages but I haven't bothered to have it replaced since the key in the door worked just fine. But this morning the key rotates freely 360* but with no effect ( the mechanism door lock is broken ) and the car is look. Some body know how I can unlock the door ? I try to disconnect and reconnect the battery but not work. Please help me.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with my 97 BX. How did you fixed it? I Broke into my car! from the R side window. I stuck a long wire and manage to pull the door handle from the inside. was it your lock?
