Best $1.99 a TALL Boxster driver can spend
When I move my Boxster seat all the way back (and then wish for more legroom),
the seatback rubs on the rollbar. The squeaking drives me nuts. 12" of Velco ($1.99/ft at Aco Hardware) fixed it. Clean and dry the inside of the roll bar to aid adhesion. Throw away the stiff Velcro and cut the fuzzy Velcro into 2" pieces to help it hold the curvature better. You may have to reposition the Velcro to find the best spot. Also, I was worried the plastic mesh screens would fly away so I zip tied the bottom edge to the roll bar. Nearly invisible. Headdead ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Cool deal. My car has those zip ties too - you'd think they were factory equipment!

Think of what happens when your car is hit from behind
when positioning your seat. Depends on how your head would hit that lightly padded roll bar but it could cost your life. In run around town traffic I keep my seat forward to prevent the rear-ender from slamming my head back to that very hard object.

I wish I had the luxury that shorter people have. For some of us it's move the seat all the way back or don't drive a Boxster. I've already dropped the seat to its lowest setting and completely removed the console, but with a 36" inseam the car is only marginally safe to drive. I was shocked at how tight it is, since my only other Porsche was a 1988 911, which must have had at least 1 or 2 additional inches. And I thought Germans were supposed to be tall.
Has anybody figured out how to get more legroom? Maybe replace/rework the stock seats? Remove capet/insulation from the rear firewall? |
