body issue in boxster !~

Hi i want to ask right way to remove the air duct frame at driver side out body!
OK i bought my car 3 months ago since day one i noted the driver door had little gap like out of line with car-maybe 2-3 mm most in the top part , so i toOK it to body shop, to check ! i was thinking maybe car had accident or so !, well ! the the car doesn't SHOW ACCIDENT BUT OWNER OF BODY SHOP SHOW ME ISSUE!
he show me in the hinge of the car at the body panel the metal hoOK where door locks! there was little crack there tiny but is there ! he said is real common in corvettes and other convertible car for the body stress or so !HE SAID IS NOT JUST TO REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS THERE AND ALINE AGAIN he said he will like to accesss the panel behind and weld a piece metal tow where hinge goes reinforce that part and the install the hinge and the 2 screws paint the inside of door panel and car eill be like new !!!! he charge me 300$ to do that!
---so my question it will be ease to access the panel from behind by removing air duct or it is better way? how to do it!!!i want to be really carefully here i want my car perfect so i will be in top of body shop they take parts out and install back perfect---don't want broken parts is way to fix this problem!
----second it someone of you experience this issue in your Porsche?thanks
