What Pressure Plate With Aasco Aluminum Flywheel in Cayman S?
Prior to selling my Boxster S, I removed the Aasco aluminum flywheel and replaced it with a new dual mass flywheel and installed a new stock clutch. The aluminum flywheel does make a difference, but I think the clutch was slipping a little as I got burning clutch smell with any kind of spirited driving. Tried to resolve that (per Aasco) with Sachs organic, high friction disc and new stock pressure plate, but no soap. Problem completely gone with new dual mass and standard clutch. So, when I put this flywheel in my Cayman, I'm thinking I need a better pressure plate with a little more clamping force. I'm not interested in something that will be annoyingly hard to push in though. I'm looking at Spec Stage 2+, but before spending the money and doing the work, I'd like to be fairly confident it's going to work. I know, at this point some of you are champing at the bit to say something snarky about my driving. I guess if you've got a real zinger, let her fly. But, with the exception of being clueless what to do when the ass-end of my 911 starts to come around, I'm a reasonably competent driver and, yes Skippy, can operate a manual transmission. So... What pressure plate is going to keep the clutch from slipping without needing a lot of extra effort to push the clutch pedal in?
