Boxster Project 19: O2 Sensor Replacement
Anyone got any questions on Project 19 - O2 Sensor Replacement for your 986 Boxster, 987 Boxster, Cayman, Carrera 996, or Carrera 997?

In another post on the Forums, BoxterS asked which side of the engine Bank 1 (or 2) was on. He said he bought your book but could not find the information. You did not answer his question, but ...
Wow, a simple question from a customer that bought your book asking which side of the car Bank 1 and Bank 2 are and you tell him to "Go look in the book". I bought your book too and I can't find that simple answer either! Additionally, your Pelican Parts page for the Oxygen Sensor (987-606-123-02-M14 "After Starter Catalyst) for example, describes it in the Parts Diagram Description as a "N sensor, in front of, catalytic converter (M97.21). I have a 2008 Base Cayman which has thrown a P0056 error code indicating a heater problem with the Bank 2 - Sensor 2 Oxygen Sensor. I believe that the simple answer to the BoxterS question is that Bank 2 is on the Driver side of an "American Boxter" car and Sensor 2 is AFTER the cat. If I am wrong, could you please clarify? The O2 sensors are usually just called pre (1) and post (2) cat. Or before and after TWC. (three way catalytic converter) Usually it is the pre that fails first. |
