Boxster Project 90: 996 Gauge Cluster Upgrade
Anyone got any questions on Project 90 - 996 Gauge Cluster Upgrade for your 986 Boxster, 987 Boxster, Cayman, Carrera 996, or Carrera 997?

Reprogramming the cluster....
Hey Wayne:
Love your articles. Question about the programming sequence; I am an electric engineer but still have a hard time following the sequence probably becaue I am unfamiliar with the syntax, etc. I have a 2000 Boxster S (a beautiful car!) and have a line on a 2000 Porsche 911 996 Carrera 996.641.103.03 White Miles Instrument Gauge Cluster. Before I jump into this, do you know if I can accomplish the correct programming using the DURAMETRIC 6 enthusiast module? Do you have a more spelled out, step by step instruction sheet using this to reprogram the cluster? Thanks. Ger |
Hi there. I'm not sure about the Durametric 6 tool and it's ability to reprogram the cluster. I would recommend that you ask them directly, as I think this is a popular question? I could walk you through the process with the Porsche factory PST-2 tool if you needed though...

Hey Wayne:
Do you know offhand if the cluster from: 2000 Porsche 911 996 Carrera 996.641.103.03 transplanted into my: 2000 Boxster S would need reprogramming? I would love to see a PDF of the sequence you go through for the reprogramming. I couldn't get anywhere with the durametric and if they could do it because I don't know enough to ask the right questions :(:(:( |
Oh, and finally:
if I do the OBC modification using the panel switch, will it affect the instructions for the cluster upgrade? Thanks so much for your patience!! Ger :D |
