2000 boxster s window not going down when door opens
I have a 2000 Boxster S and the window is not going down far enough to open or close the door. I was told I can reset the memory or a micro sensor.
Any thoughts or ideas and also how much its going to cost me? |

This is usually due to the regulators cables having stretched/worn over time.
Sounds like you are due for a new window regulator. |

I have an article coming out on this replacement procedure next month. Send me an email at wayne@pelicanparts.com and I will forward it to you in advance. I had the same problem with my window, and after jerking around with trying to adjust it, and the motor, I just replaced it. Problem solved.

If you tackle it yourself-
The hardest part is aligning the glass if you don't know what you are doing. I would type the following in all caps to stress the importance of these bullet points- but it's just annoying. The following will save you lots of grief aligning the window. 1: Do not clean the dirt off the bottom of the glass. When you get the glass out, that nice little trail of dirt shows you exactly where to remount the glass! 2: Before you loosen the 2 10mm nuts on the bottom of the door- Mark the position of the regulator on the bottom inside of the door frame. 3: Do not touch the 'up' stops on the new regulator- 9/10 times they are fine. 4: The rear torx screw on the regulator's glass clamp should be set at the halfway point- This gets you in a great position to only have to fine tune it. Line 1 will get the front/rear adjustment of the glass correct 9/10 times Line 2 will get the tilt of the glass right 9/10 times Line 3 will get the up stop 9/10 times Line 4 will get you there 5/10 times. This should be the only adjustment you need to tinker with. This job takes a 1st timer around 2-3 hours. If you do not have to adjust anything and are careful, it can be done in around 40 minutes. If you screw up the adjustments, you could be tinkering for 4 hours or more! Last edited by Jamikest; 04-24-2010 at 06:29 AM.. |

I agree. There's some good info in there, I don't think I included it all in the book, I will add it!
