New top might be too tight!! oops

I finished installing my new top on the 2000 Boxster. I have read that it will be extremely tight at first but over time it will relax and loosen up a little. I hope so because tonight when I finished , I had to get the wife to push down and forward on the front edge of the roof so that I could get the latch to grab.

Without her pulling the top forward the latch was about one inch away from the notch when the light went out and it struggled to get it that far.

Is this normal or did I install the top too far forward causing it to be too tight? If this was my mistake , what can i do to fix the problem. I hope you guys have a simple fix , without removing the top and starting over.

I still have the original top on my 2000 but I bet you are fine. It's amazing how much vinyl stretches when it gets warm. Put it in the sun tomorrow & I bet you will love the fit. Maybe you can get a U of A grad to look at it. Roll Tide!

Right - try the sun thing with the top zipped up. If that doesn't work, post back here, and we'll come up with some solutions...

I will try the sun tip and see how it goes. I will give it about a week and then report back .
