06 Cayman S - Performance Upgrades?

I love my 06 Cayman, but one can never have too much HP...I've saved up some cash, what are some performance upgrades that some of you all have done that I should consider?

No limits on the options as I can always save more!

I really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill. There are a few things that you can do, although not nearly as much as with an early 911. The most obvious choice is to install some performance software, at which point you will gain a few ponies. But, there is no replacement for displacement, and probably the best upgrade you can do is an engine swap to a 3.8!

Hi !

The best solution is a swap with a 3.8l !!! There are a lot of solutions but for the price...

Contact the 90ne One Motorsport because they made the swap three months ago ;)

350hp and 440 NM ;)

The best solution, if cost is no object, is a TPC turbo kit.

Just don't forget you'll need more LSD with more power...

thanks for the referral matt.

TPC's turbo kit: TPC Racing Upgraded brakes, tires, LSD and drover skill wouldn't hurt either ;)

I would install software, lwfw, and an underdrive pulley.

There's a local guy here with a tpc kit. Nice power and sounds cool too:)

I know a guy who has had some trouble with the TPC kit. He has an 06 Cayman S as well. The car is FAST - very fast, but has had a lot of issues while at the track. This past track day at VIR he ran pretty good most of the time, but had to come in and reset a code (same code - don't remember what) a couple of times.

That's all I know about it, but just thought I would mention it.

Mark, do you have the Guy's name? We havnt heard from him..

racer 07-21-2010 11:53 AM

imho, the best performance mod is to improve the driver. That way, the mod can be moved from car to car ;)

messex 07-21-2010 01:49 PM

Well, I won't mention names, but I know you have heard from him. He lives in Update SC, with a Red Cayman S. He tends to be 'vocal', so I'm sure you have heard from him. He may even be on this board - don't know. I don't know how much is problems with the kit, or what - I'm just relaying what I've heard.

27Carrera 07-22-2010 04:49 AM

gotcha. I am familiar, thanks! Our engineers have devoted a lot of time to that car.

messex 07-22-2010 06:06 AM

yeah, I don't know the details, and not pointing fingers - just giving information to somebody based on my limited knowledge of the issues. I hope it can be worked out - that car is blazing fast when it is running right - last week I watched him keeping up with a GT3 RS and the driver of that car is pretty good. I would love to do something like that to my Boxster, but have held off because of the issues.
