Stock seat weight

Looking to see if anyone (boxster spec guys?) knows what a stock leather seat with the power back angle adjustment weights? Or any Boxster seat for that matter.

Doing the weight-game math.

I could weigh mine when I get back from out of town

I changed my stockers to gt3's awhile back. The stockers were very! Heavy. When I get home in a few days I will weigh them. Been trying to add in my head how mch weight I got out of the thing with the few mods I've done.

There are hundreds of pounds to be had in the car and still have it streetable. And I'm finding out quickly that it's a lot cheaper to lighten the car than it is to add more power.

Here's to that! Coolest experience I ever had was in a 2.4 liter 911 that was 2200 pounds, maybe 170 hp. Streetable but looked pretty bad, great suspension setup. Walked right by a murcielago at laguna seca. I thought it was pretty cool!

I've had the seats out a couple of times for repairs to the shifter and e-brake. They are not all that heavy. No, they aren't Momo race seats, but they might weigh 35 -40 pounds and that's about it.

The fact that they are integral to the car, the belts and the sensors, I'm not considering removing mine.

Milt, do your seats have power adjustment? Mine do and I never use it. Waste of weight.

Well I had some time, so I took the passenger seat out and used my bathroom scale to weigh me and the seat, and then subtract my weight. My leather non-sport seat with the power recline weighs 45 lbs +/- ~3 lbs.

That's 90 lbs between the two. A set of nice fixed backs run anywheres between 15-18 lbs each, depending on the price. So there is a realistic weight reduction of around 50-60 lbs if both are replaced.

I may do this in the future not just for the weight, but also because I'd like to sit about 1/2" - 1" lower in the car.

My car would be a hell of a lot more comfortable if I could sit further back. Let me know how it works out.
