Fault code 95?

The check engine light on my 98’ Boxster came on today, just about the time the odometer turned over 90,000 miles. When I plugged in my Durametric reader, it read: code P0446 – Porsche fault code 95 [shut off valve activated / charcoal filter].
Can anyone tell me what this means, and what need to be done?
Thanks!

Sounds pretty close to what happened to me. There is something called a "purge valve" incorporated into the EVAP system and the charcoal filter. I had a new one installed as part of quite a saga that started with my car stranding me.

Until better comments come along here, you can probably search on the purge valve.

I found this on the first page of a Google search:

There's a shutoff valve which opens and releases pressure. I believe that the pressure sensor in the tank can then sense this and if it doesn't record a drop, then it gives the code. It's a bit of a black art because this code relies on a few sensors, I believe, to figure out that something is wrong. I've heard that the intake tube for fresh air to enter the tank can become clogged, and if that is the case, then this code will trigger. Although I haven't done it myself, I hear a potential solution would be to remove the front right wheel liner, and then disconnect the air supply line from the charcoal canister. Blow compressed air through the line to make sure it's not clogged. A fault here may also signal a clog in your charcoal canister - they do tend to break down over the years and become clogged.

Fault code 95?

Wayne, Thanks for the instructions, I will give that a try. Does Pelican carry the replacement charcoal canisters (did not see a listing for one)?

Question

Wayne,

Cheers,
