typical 986 oil pressure?

Hi All,
I have added an oil pressure gauge and sender (VDO 350-104 and VDO 360-028). Running Joe Gibbs DT40. How does this compare to what you all are seeing?
Cheers,
Tom

Hot at idle

Hot at 2000rpm

Hot at 4000

They all seem to be high to me. Where did you install the sensor. How many miles on the engine? How many miles on the oil? Engine temp?

I installed the sensor in place of the idiot-light switch.

~20k miles on engine from new (i'm the original owner)

Engine temp was where it typically resides (in the "0" of 180 on the factory gauge).

Looks similar to mine
I'll have to check next time out.
I've read something like 1-1.5 bar at idle hot and 3-3.5bat at 5k rpm hot

I installed a Carrera Gauge cluster on my Boxster and it includes an oil pressure gauge.

When the engine is hot and the car is at idle I think it is usually at about 1 to 1.5 bar which is 15 - 22 psi. So it looks like you are close.

At 5000 rpm it looks like it is at about 3.5 bar which is slightly more than 50 psi.

So, it looks like you are reading a little high at 5000 rpm. I'll look at it tomorrow. I'm usually accelerating when I'm at 5000 rpm, so my reading may not be precise.

Also, you have an S and that may explain some of the difference.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm thinking that a little high isn't a bad thing. Was worried about having damaged bearings and resulting lower oil pressure. Now back to enjoying the car... I'll let you all know if the gauge heralds the coming of the apocalypse.
