Becker CDR220 iPhone iPod adaptor cable

A nice cable that connects the iPhone/iPod via the Becker CDR220 CD changer AUX port. This cable also charges the iPhone/iPod. I installed one in my Boxster today similar to Wayne's install in his book, 101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster, and it works quite well.

This is indeed an great, inexpensive way to go, but there are several downsides to this installation that made me choose the other one:

- it doesn't charge the iphone / ipod when plugged in
- it disables your CD player
- it doesn't show the song titles on the radio

Sound quality is about the same (I've compared both methods, and I cannot tell the difference).

Here's the link to the one I decided upon (see last photo): Pelican Technical Article: Changing Your Boxster Stereo Head Unit / Installing Boxster Ipod Integration - 986 / 987

Wayne~
After reading your reply, I ran out to my garage to test my radio and the phone is charging with the key switch in the on position and the CD player operates normally. I do not have the music data marquee on the radio since it is hardwired in. Hope the below information helps...

There appears to be three different model of these cables from this supplier:

-BLAU/8-POD - iPod charging adapter (Not compatible with the iPhone (3G, 3Gs, 4G), Touch (2G, 3G))

Hmm, must be a new product then, as this didn't have these features when I investigated it about a year ago. Looks like something we should put into the catalog.

What about CDR230

Do these adaptor cables also work with a CDR-230 ?

probable not. That radio is part of the fiber optic ring and will not recognize something this cable. These are for analog radios Pre-2002 with aux mode option burred in the menu. Dension does provide adapters for the digital radios and available thru many US dealer.
Good luck.

Quiet!
