Impact absorber

I read and can't find an order thread about someone removing the impact absorber on the air intake side of the engine compartment for better breathing as a performance mod...

Has anyone tried this??? How about too much water??? or is this a track only mod?, Does it work? maybe its like installing a cold air kit?

Any comments...

I am not sure but it seems like that is what is refered to as desnorkeling.

10min. Boxster "de-snorkel" Hack! :: Car & Lifestyle Forum

That was first on the google search.

Never done it, so I can't endorse or add any thoughts to it.

FWIW, I installed the Evo Hi-Flow air intake on my car (opening Pandora's Box) and feel it's worth the cost for the induction sound alone. I've run this for five years and have never had a MAF or CEL issue (it's all in the oil application).

I de-snorkeled mine first and felt it was a waste of time...I want to hear induction, not pretend.

You have a cold air intake from the factory.

You guys should try driving with the back cover off behind the seats and the top cover too. Man that's loud - only do that when testing as it's dangerous to have everything spinning around right behind you. So loud, you almost feel like the engine is going to reach out from the engine bay and grab your head!
