90k service on 2007 2.7 Cayman
Now that's a dirty air filter!
![]() It looks like it may have been in there the whole 90k! ![]()

I just had a SonicWall firewall that failed on me the other day. I opened it up to clean it, and it looked just like this air filter. Pretty terrible...

I'm impressed you've put 90k on a four year old Cayman! My 2008 Subie only has 43k and it's our "travel" car.

That's funny. She had until recently a very long commute to work.
This car had been rock solid and as it turns out much cheaper to maintain than her 2003 Infinity G35 Coupe that it replaced. Now I'm starting to see what everyone was talking about when they said how bullet proof these cars are.

A word of CAUTION
Disturbing that much dirt is a sure fire way of upsetting/damaging you mass air flow.
Be VERY CAREFUL to suck away as much debris as possible and GINGERLY remove so as not to allow any debris to fall in. |

Good point. You may want to remove the MAF and clean out the whole intake. Use a small piece of clear plastic tubing stuck in the vacuum and sealed with duct tape. That works well for me typically.

Element should have been replaced three times by this point....
If you're watching your own clock be sure to swap out this filter along with your cab filter every 30K. |

I'm thinking the dealer was lazy and didn't change it or this was a very dirty 30k miles.
