Project 86 - Replacing Ignition Switch Question
 

Any advice on how to get up under the dash far enough to see/work on replacing the electrical portion of the ignition switch? I can't seem to get an arm up there and see what I'm doing at the same time. Should I remove the drivers seat to get more space?

You can remove the driver's seat. I'm pretty skinny, so it wasn't a terribly huge issue for me. I typically put the seat all the way back and then put my feet up way into the air above the headrest, and that seems to work okay. But if anyone is "bigger" than me, especially around the belly area, then indeed it may be wise to remove the driver's seat for ease of access.

I'm a big guy and pulled it off. Remember to lay on your back feet out the doorway and remove the ductwork obstructing the pathway to the ignition switch, it should pop right out. One of those miner's type of flashlights you wear on your head with elastic holding it onto your noggin proved very useful also.

My 13 years old daughter could remove it, she was lying on her back.
Just need to turn it 90deg any direction and it will pop up.

Putting it back requiers to push and rotate at the same time and takes more strenght.
I did it on my knee, outside the car.
Didn't had any visual but once you have it removed, it pretty easy to put it back.
That way I didn't had to remove anything

I just did this and taking the heater vent off provided plenty of access. Once I got the electrical part off I went to tackle the mechanical assembly and realized I probably could have just started with that part and it would have made the electrical part very easy.

Now the paper clip is stuck in the hole, I can't get it out and the lock cylinder won't release. HELP!
