CV boots need replacement, how hard?

My wife's 2002 Boxster has two torn CV boots and two on the way, how hard a job is this project? Any tips or insight please! Thanks Lenny

Thanks Randy thats what I was looking for, I guess if I order the boot kit I will also grab Waynes new 101 book.

I'm definitely an amateur mechanic but it was still a fairly easy task.
My biggest difficulty was the geometry, trying to get the inner bearing off the driveshaft. I didn't drop the exhaust & ended up twisting the bearing off the shaft which led to the bearings falling out!!! Having said that it was pretty easy to reload the bearings after cleaning & regreasing it.
Have a look yourself, but you may have to drop part of the exhaust "plumbing".

Just be sure to keep everything nice and clean when you remove the CV joint. It's very easy to get dirt in there, and that will promote wear in the future if you do.
