Front speakers, shot.

Both the front speakers on my wifes 2002 Boxster need to be replaced, has anyone used a good replacement other then what the dealer would sell? I do not what to make any modifications just plug n play. Cruthfield/Radio Shack etc.

Personally, if I were going to replace my speakers, I'd go with JBL.

If I recall it right then the front speakers have an unusual diameter
So for anything aftermarket you'll need to buy or make your own adapter

There are a number of threads on speaker replacement / upgrade on the various forums. I'm too lazy or I'd do the search for you.

Brand new replacement Porsche speakers are about $100 / pair through Pelican. From my experience looking up pricing on Porsche speakers in the past, that doesn't seem too terrible at all. Here's the link: Pelican Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW

Replacement is easy, follow the instructions in this article: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Door Panel Removal / Boxster Mirror Switch Replacement - 986 / 987

Wayne, I had checked out the product number you listed and it appears to be for the door mounted speakers, I am looking for the speakers on top in the dash. Are they the same?

Ooops, I didn't get that from your post, sorry.

The two part numbers you need are 9966450370201C and 9966450380201C - they are about $65 each, which doesn't seem too terrible, as they have the integrated grille. I doubt you will be able to find good aftermarket replacements for these, as they do appear to be an odd shape, and I think they are glued to the grilles.
