LA Porsche Wrecking Yard

Anybody every deal with LA porsche? I needed a starter and thought I could save a few bucks by getting a used one. I call them and they want $250, I told them it seemed pricey considering PP sells them refurb for about $275. So he says go there then!! There web page says they have fair pricing, doesnt seem like, unless you compare against the dealer. As buisness shouldnt you know all your competion? Just my opinion, or maybe its just hard to compete against PP!! Wayne thank you for PP.

My experience with junk yards is. Sometimes on non essential parts. Like interior stuff. It may be a little cheaper. But not always. I've bought parts from the Porsche dealer here in town that were less.
As far as essential drive parts. They pretty much guess as to what they can get and hope someone will pay the price.
It's not the type of business, were there going to research it. They have it. If someone is willing to pay it. Then. You get the idea.
Like anything on this planet. research, research, research., Never assume. That because it's used. It's less.
Buy the new one and be done with it!

I only have one experience with them. Can't base a lot on it but it is what it is. I wanted to buy a low mileage steering wheel because mine was slick. My concern was I would just get another slick wheel and be disappointed, anyway I was dealing with a nice young man both in email and by phone, I told him the reason I wanted it and so it was important if they could take a few extra minutes to help me out. Anyway back an forth a couple of times, the guy said he would pull a couple down, take pictures and find one that met my needs. Never heard back, I called, I emailed..totally ignored me. I hear the place in DC treats folks well and has a very good inventory system.

Problem is. You, (not a bad thing) became more of a hassle than, they wanted to deal with. They will get it from someone, that doesn't ask them to do to much.
Like I said. Research research, research and you did!!! Good job.

New one is about a thousand, little more than I want to pay for a starter, rather spend that on something cool, ie wheels. Did some research found a guy who worked for bosch, rebuild it for me with 2yr warranty for about $140. Not bad.
