PPI on early boxster purchase.
Do i really need to get a PPI on a boxster?
you can spend a couple of hundred bucks on a really clean boxster, only to drive it down the street and have it go kaplooey. Why spend the money when the biggest most expensive fix can not really be diagnosed with a 200 dollar PPI I have driven several boxsters over the last several weeks, paid for one PPI, if the car is clean and drives solidly and the owner has some receipts, why spend the money on a PPI when an IMS failure could be pending. Seems like crazy logic but is my thinking totally flawed |

It's a catch-22 indeed. If you spend money on a PPI and then the car is rejected, then you can waste a ton of money just on PPIs, and then you'll get frustrated and end up with a car in the end that you probably didn't get a PPI on because you didn't want it to get rejected!
![]() My advice is, as you have indeed noted, to get a car with lots of paperwork, lots of ownership receipts, and no questions. That is the best way to go. PPIs are great for people who know *nothing* about cars, but if you've worked on your own car, or been around them for a while, you know the tell-tale signs of abuse to look for. Take a look at some of the PPI / buyer's guides that you can find on the Net too - they sometimes offer up good tips on what red-flags to look for. Also, feel free to post pics and comments here and we'll be more than happy to review your purchase prior to you plunking down some bucks! -Wayne
