oil leakage at top left front of engine
![]() I have started my first look at our 1998 986 boxster with 2.5 and 25,000 miles There is traces of oil on the front left and top and looks misted as it is on everything . It has not dripped off the front of the engine but is oily to the touch. The sound insulation has fallen onto the serpentine belt and that has left a gray dust on everything which is making findind a source hard. Any suggestions? Thanks Ron |

Well what I would do is look for the highest point where the oil is and start from there....
Hope it's nothing major. Good luck! |

Maybe the black camshaft position sensor? It doesn't see a lot of oil pressure (if any), and may be a slow little leak over time. It's right above where you seem to be showing the leak?

from what I can see on that picture you have nothing to worry about. Mine started leaking and it took a while to find it. left a small puddle in my tray. turned out to come from the breather line (plastic )that goes to the AOS on the other side of the engine in rear. I replaced it and never had another problem,
