Boxster Project 44: Clutch Replacement

Anyone got any questions on Project 44 - Clutch Replacement for your 986 Boxster, 987 Boxster, Cayman, Carrera 996, or Carrera 997?

Here's a back link to the original article: Pelican Technical Article: 44-TRANS-Clutch

Degree Wheel Template?

Where might I find the downloadable degree wheel template on the 101 projects for your Boxster website? I have looked but cannot find this. Tech Article referred me to the 101projects website for this. Thanks.

Someone asked me today about the Tech Bulletin I referenced in the book:

Quote:
Porsche has released a Technical Service Bulletin on checking the dual-mass flywheel (TSB 911 8/02 1360), which I have placed on the 101Projects.com website for reference.
I have the link located here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/44-TRANS-Clutch/DualFlywheelTechBulletin.pdf

Hope this helps,

Wayne

Thumbs up Pelican Rocks!!

Clutch & dual-mass flywheel and all the assorted bits arrived today! Should be diving into the clutch replacement this weekend! Wayne - Pelican's parts prices saved me almost $800 on the price markups by my local, independent Porsche shop - a shop I have been doing business with for almost 20 years! Add that markup to the more than $1,000 labor estimated for the job and I am saving a cool $1,800 on this project. Your technical articles give those of us willing to tackle the project the know how (step by step with great pictures) to do so with confidence. I can use the money I save to move forward with my 1969 BMW 2002 restoration project. Big time THANKS!!!

Wayne: I don't see the torque specs for the Flywheel bolts or pressure plate bolts anywhere in the Tech article. Can you provide those specs and explain how the torque specs are related to the use of the degree wheel?

Full instructions and specifications on torque specs are found in the Bentley Manual. I didn't reproduce any information contained in the Bentley manual because I didn't want to waste precious space in the 101 book for material that is already out there and available. I would suggest picking up a copy of the Bentley manual right away, as there are lots of torque specs in there that I did not include in the 101 book. Also, the 101 book spans lots of different years and different cars, so it would be very difficult to include all of that information for every year and model of Boxster & Cayman (for all of the projects).

Some people don't like this, but it keeps errors down in the 101 book, and I also work closely with the Bentley people so I don't like to have my book compete directly with their in this small marketplace.

On a side note, you didn't tell me what year car you have, so I can't provide that info regardless. If you want to PM me I can look up the info for your particular car, but I do recommend just getting the Bentley manual.
