Hi Wayne. I've read and learned much about my Boxster from you and this forum. Here's my quandry. I own a former CPO
01 Boxster S. 67K miles on her. Manual tranny. I bought the
vehicle in Feb of 09. Had the Porsche 2 year/24k mile extended
warranty on it. That expired this past February of 2011. I
bought a Fidelity Warranty Services Extended Services Contract
thru the Porsche dealership I get my Box serviced at. Gold
Level. I plan on doing the LN Engineering IMS upgrade toward
the end of this summer when I have the $$$$. I have been
losing sleep over the thought of the IMS going on it before I get
the chance to do the upgrade and am paranoid Fidelity Warranty
is not gonna honor their contract if it does blow up up. I just
can't see even the best of Extended Service companies being
thrilled about having to replace an engine, be it new, or rebuilt/
refabbed or whatever.

Should I be worrying here or am I just creating needless stress
for myself ?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi John. Indeed, I think that you are creating unnecessary stress for yourself. Take the car out, enjoy it, drive it hard, and make sure you change the oil every 3,000-5,000 miles and I think you'll be fine. Do the IMS replacement next time you need a clutch, and just keep an ear out for any odd noises you may hear in the engine!

Totally agree...I'm more concerned about my original nine year old water pump with 19k miles. I think I should change that out this spring...
