Convert spring rates? Math test!
Okay, all you math wizards, let's see if you can convert these metric spring rates for some coil-overs we bought for the Boxster...
front 6.0 kg/mm rear 8.7 kg/mm Good old pounds would be something that I can process  |
1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds
So 6kg=13.22773572 pounds and 8.7kg=19.1802216679 pounds Is that what you where looking for? Randy PS, Google is your friend. (-; |
Actually found something a little different...
Re: spring rate conversion by Robert Fogt on 03/16/05 at 12:40:09 Springs are rated in pounds/inch in the U.S., and Newtons/millimeter elsewhere. I have not seen kilograms/millimeter before, but the conversion will be easy enough. 1 pound = 0.45359237 kilogram 1 inch = 25.4 millimeter 0.45359237/25.4 = 0.0178579673228346 The conversion factor is 0.0178579673228346 So, to convert lb/in to kg/mm you multiply by 0.0179 and to convert kg/mm to lb/in you divide by 0.0179 So that would mean... Front 335 Rear 486 ...which sounds about right. |
