Bits of plastic in oil filter. Pics Attached. IMS failure imminent? Help!

Changed my oil on a 2001 Boxster 2.7L 57k miles. This is what I found...Translucent brown plastic pieces and black pieces in my oil filter..

Any ideas on what causes this? Thanks!

Perhaps from the chain tensioner scrubber?

Hi

So, it looks like you had an analysis done on your oil. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Just lurking from the 911 board, but that looks like chain ramp plastic colors...

I just replace my IMS bearing and added the sump extender to my BSR. I found similar bits of plastic in the sump. Also not sure where they might have come from. I do agree that they look the color of the ramp material.

BTW, after 120,000, my IMS bearing looks perfect. Still glad I replaced it.

I found yellow bits of plastic in what was probably the second oil change on my '07 30k miles 2.7. Nothing at the next change. I'm not worried. C.

Interesting, saw the same in a 90k miles boxster, haven't done the second oil change yet.
