ims replace want to use pelican kit. when will be ready?
 

Hi I been waiting and waiting for pelican ims kit, my car is need new clutch and want to approach the ims issue at same time but I want to save money and convince pelican kit will be good source kit , but time is passing and kit is not available yet? when will be ?

I asked last week on the phone and they still had no ETA.

has been coming for 6 months. One problem they will have is tools. LN sells their tools only to those who buy their bearing. So Wayne will have to develop, source and produce a set of tools without violating any patents or copyrights.

Plus I don't understand anyone using the same Porsche design/materials approach Porsche originally used (inner seal, metal bearing, grease lube) and which is known to fail. And that is what the Pelican parts are.

Plus even if they were available today, their track record wouldn't have been established by years of use of the instructions, tools and replacement parts like LNs solution has been.

While I respect Mike Focke's opinion on a lot of things, he's not correct with his information here. Firstly, LN Engineering does sell the tools separately - we have them in our catalog. Secondly, the kit is a direct replacement for the factory bearing, which has proven to be a limited-life component, just like an oil filter or wheel bearing. Finally, the kit replaces the factory bearing with an original replacement from NSK, so there should be no concern about longevity.

I have 500 kits in stock right now, but I need to add instructions and the set screws to the boxes. We moved the entire company this week, so there are a few things that are a higher priority at this very moment.

That's the first I've heard of an IMS detection device. Can you direct me to more info on it? I've poured through the forums, and probably missed it. Thanks!

Nobody is guaranteeing the replacement will last but I'm rolling the loaded dice and will wait for Wayne's kit. His commitment to the Porsche community and sharing his knowledge speaks volumes and has saved many thousands of dollars. Give the man and his crew a chance.

Regardless, I hope the kit is a success and for those who developed it.

Man, just post a PDF instruction sheet or something! I'm up on jacks as we speak, about to fork out for the LN. Just sell it to us! I'll get the set screws from Lowes.

What I posted re the tools was, at the time it was posted, based on a clear statement on the LN web site. I had asked Wayne about it months ago. He hadn't answered. Wayne has now informed me he has other information re the LN tools availability. One of the problems with dealing with the publicity about unavailable products is you don't have all the facts or even the marketing.

I am a skeptic. I ask questions and seek to understand the logic behind things as well as the statistics. I seek out multiple sources. I respect Wayne's right to bring out a product he thinks there is demand for, just as I do the right of Charles, Ed, Jake...etc. And applaud them all. I have had product development responsibility in the past so I appreciate the many constraints the developer operates under. Sometimes I backchannel to them to try and help them improve their marketing.

I ask questions about a product in hopes that I'll understand it better and can help others to understand too. And where I don't understand the reasoning behind someone's development or purchasing decision, I ask them about it in hopes that we'll both learn something from the exchange. Maybe they know something I don't know...or maybe I do. Sometimes I do it in what I expect will be a private manner and that is done for many reasons. But there is no legal disclaimer and someone reading that message may not have realized the expectation.

I understand, Wayne....but I'm going to whine until it's time! ;) With the LN dual row and the tool kit I'm in it for $665. Could you tell us what at least the "target" price was? I figured that without the housing, it will be significantly cheaper than the LN and worth waiting for a bit...is it realistic to get it out in 2 weeks? I guess that's where I'm frustrated and confused....knowing there's 500 on a pallet needing just a few measly screws?

Target price is less than $200. Unfortunately, there are far more pressing things to be done right now - we just moved the entire company a week ago and things are a bit disorganized here. Maintaining and filling our current business is the most important focus right now, and working on new projects is not as pressing at this moment.

I totally understan wayne, but dissapoint you print book , and get all crowd waiting for kit taht you said last year will be available starting febrary then may! now when???? next year ! I don't think is right way to help you costumers!
