accidently filled a couple litres of unknown liquid to the car

Hi guys

Have a gas-tank laying around, and during moving i couldnt find any good place for this gas can, so i left it in the trunk of the boxster. Drove to work today, gas i getting really low, but no time to stop and fill, so I just drove straight to work.

I figured to save myself the embarrasment of running out of gas on my way to the station, I'd just empty this half gallon of gas from this can into the boxster so I'm safe.. The boxster stops telling you how far you got left of gas below 15km, and I felt I had pushed the limit enough as it was. So i start pouring it, at first it smells like gas, but then goes over more to a diesel smell, wich scares me, so i stop.

I start up the car, it runs for 3 seconds, then dies out..
Im not sure if there was just a whole lot of condenced water in that gas, or if it possibly was a squirt of diesel i just put into the car, but either way; How do I drain the tank, any easy fuel-line to unclip while running the starter/fuel pump? Or should i just get her over to the gas station and fill her completely up?

Why would you have a can of diesel fuel in a can in the trunk of your porsche? If you have some left in the can pour it in to something and check it out. Should be obvious. Could be you just ran her dry and put what ever in at the worst time. If so, use a drain hose and carefully syphon the tank out and refill. If it was diesel you might get some smoking for a bit. Dont get the fuel in your mouth. You wont like the taste. Also not a very safe idea to carry gas in the trunk of your porsche. It gets pretty warm in there.

drain tank

you'll never get the gas out of the tank with a hose, specially if it is very low. if you have access to a lift get the car up there and disconnect the fuel filter and bypass the fuel pump relay to drain whatever is left

hope this helps

Don't have access to a lift at the moment. Car is parked at work, around 800m from a gas station.. I've heard you shouldn't tow automatic transmission cars since it could destory the clutch? Is the fuel filter accessable from underneath the car if I jack it up?
