Left turn signal does not work
 

I have a 2003 base with 83,000 miles. My left turn signal only works intermittently, and now it mostly does not work. The lever clicks down and returns (which seems to be the usual problem when I searched this topic) but the lights and the dash light do not come on. I know the lights and the flasher work because when you turn on the hazard, all four flash. Is this a problem with the stalk? I hope not because the stalk is an expensive part. Thanks for any help that is offered.
