When I brake, horn beeps?

I drove through D.C. today, which probably has the worst roads in the world. Very bumpy.

Anyways, I was driving pretty slow, 20mph. And after I went through a few bumps, I realized that when I stepped on the brakes hard trying to avoid bumps, my horn kept beeping.

The harder I braked, the longer the horn beep went. Any idea's?

I had a similar problem. 'Could be grommets on air bag mount have deteriorated, allowing connection to set off horn. I believe it's project #62 (in "101 Projects ...")that covers removing that part as part of Steering Wheel replacement. (It's a great book, if you don't already have it..)

It's not a difficult repair, once you get up the courage to handle the air bag.

Side note - you could pull the fuse before getting into traffic, to avoid sending the wrong message...

Those are the cars behind you. You are going to slow.

Haha, I actually thought that at first. But then I went to an area where I was the only car and I tested it.

And since yesterday, it has not happened again.

Yeah I have the book. If I remove the fuse, will it affect the airbag?
