A buddy of mine is looking at a new Cayman and the sales people are telling him that the car comes with synthetic oil in it and thats why the period between oil changes is so long.
We both have a tough time believing this, does anyone know the type of oil a new Cayman or any Porsche for that matter comes with from the factory? Finn

Porsches come from the factory with Mobil 1 synthetic (I believe 0W40).

And anyone who believes those factory oil change intervals is asking for trouble. Oil collects moisture and dirt no matter what the formulation or weight. Get it out of there much more frequently. An oil change costs less than $100, a motor....

My Boxster does have a factory sticker that states original fill, Mobil 1 synthetic. I still use Mobil 1 but change my oil every 3 thousand miles.
