Trans noise Noise

Just curious if my trans is on its way out.

Details:
99 Boxster 5 speed w/142,000 miles normal maintenance never tracked, clutch & IMS bearing at 140K

This last weekend we took the car for a weekend get away. After driving for close to an hour at 80-85 I noticed a slight whine when crusing/accelerating. This occured between 85-90 anything higher than 90 the noise went back to normal ambient noise. I drive the car regularly for ~45-60 minutes twice weekly at highway speeds and have not heard this before.

My thoughts are:
- Trans bearing starting to go (always go worsecase)
- Wheel bearing starting to go although recently replaced with OEM part
- Trans fluid which was changed at the same time as clutch was not the right viscosity. The shop used Motul rather than OEM.

I'll probably try a fluid change but barring that I'll live with it until it is unbearable.

Thoughts? Anyone else have a simular experience?

Switch back to the OEM fluid; Porsche uses a unique spec for this and several aftermarket companies, the honest ones anyway, openly admit they do not have a match for it.

We have had customers try just about everything out there, but they always end up going back to the factory fill due to noise, poor shifting, etc. The OEM stuff is a bit pricey, but it is a full synthetic and seems to do its job pretty well.
